Tis the season for lipstick!

With the holidays upon us and many parties and events to attend, many women want to look great but with minimal effort. A great make-up look for this season is one where your lips are the focus of your make-up application. To balance out a more bold lip try pairing it with a lightly lined eye and lots of mascara. The most important thing with pulling off the “bold lip” look is to make sure that your lip color is complimentary to your skin tone. Women with warmer, golden skin that often has yellow undertones should go with colors that have more brown or orange in the color. Think of: maple leaf, cinnamon or spiced cider. Women with cooler skin tones that have pink undertones should opt for colors that have a blue undertone. Think of: cranberry or candied apple. If you are new to wearing color on your lips and don’t feel comfortable with something vibrant you can choose a more sheer texture such as a lip gloss or a satin finish lipstick. Below you will find 8 steps to perfect lips that will be sure to entice that special someone to meet you under the mistletoe! Happy Holidays from Leslie Fair :)

1. Exfoliate lips. I like to use a little bit of sugar mixed with honey and then I gently rub until any dry skin is removed. Rinse well.
2. Moisturize lips. Apply a balm such as Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 and wait 5 minutes then tissue off completely.
3. Prime lips. Apply foundation (or powder) lightly over lips with a sponge or makeup brush.
4. Line lips. Using a lip liner close to your natural lip color lightly line your lips balancing the shape and adding fullness where desired.
5. Apply color. The secret to a good lipstick application is to use a brush. Feather the lip color evenly inside the lip line.
6. Blot lips. Use a tissue to blot lip color.
7. Set lips. Using a brush or sponge apply a translucent powder over the lips. Dust away excess powder.
8. Finish lips. Using the lip brush apply a second coat of lipstick and you are ready to go!
